Karma Neutral Ceramics is the studio of Chicago based potter Sangeet Gupta. Sangeet has been making functional and non-functional ceramics since 2003. For the last five years, he has been firing the majority of his work in wood and wood/salt kilns. Firings can last between two and six days with the kiln being stoked with wood around the clock every few minutes and reaching temperatures in excess of 2300 degrees Fahrenheit. Sangeet has grown to love this labor intensive process for the organic and somewhat unpredictable aesthetic it produces as well as the beauty of the firing itself. Opening a sight hole and watching the flames roll and float across the pieces is a magical experience in itself.
Please feel free to come by the studio in Chicago to see and handle his wares in person (as well as those of his very talented studio mates Carl Mankert and Rebecca Deppe). If you are interested in any of his works, but are not in the Chicago area, please feel free to contact Sangeet for pricing, additional photographs of the piece, and a detailed description of the pot.
